What Customers Say About Gene Pitney - 25 All-Time Greatest Hits:

Gene's been gone for a few years now,but he lives on through his wonderful music. When I first heard "Only Love Can Break A Heart"I was captivated by the strong emotion coming from Gene Pitney's voice. That song, along with 24 other timeless classics, make this collection one to own.

This has every song I would want of his except for two of my favorites:Yesterday's HeroShe Let's Her Hair Down (Early in the Morning) I loved Gene Pitney while I was growing up in the 60's.

For a guy who was a pretty darn good songwriter himself, Pitney is probably best remembered for songs written by others. I don't think I'd heard "Mecca" in 45 years, but since getting this CD recently, I can't seem to get that wonderfully oddball song out of my head.

There are many other great recordings included too. Not that I'm complaining - I love it.

These are the original recordings Gene Pitney did for the Musicor label back in the 1960s. But so are the absolutely magnificent recordings he did of the Burt Bacharach/Hal David songs "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance," "Only Love Can Break A Heart," and "24 Hours From Tulsa." Masterpieces all.

Highest recommendation. Every song most people would remember is included.

His own original recording of "Hello Mary Lou" is included in this set.

Not to say it's Ultra-fi, but for the first time you can hear what those guys were doing when they put together these productions, and It is Good. It has been a decades-long frustration that there has never been a good-sounding Gene Pitney collection. Those of you who have heard an original Liberty Valance 45 on a good system know what was possible--it's frightening. This is a good-sounding disc, the first of which I am aware (I have the Rhino set and it is not good sounding, and the vinyl Best Of is wretched).

you will love it. if you want gene this is the one for you. i'm wearing it out i've played it so much.
